ASUS announces ROG Phone 6D series, using MediaTek chipset


In the past few days, ASUS has continued to entice smart gaming enthusiasts with its ASUS ROG Phone 6D series. yes! Finally, the gaming smartphone has officially visited the global market. Two models were launched, namely ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate.

As already leaked by a number of well-known leakers, ASUS’ latest gaming smartphone is powered by the latest MediaTek flagship chipset, not Qualcomm. Apart from that, both also arrive with some minor changes compared to the ROG Phone 6 or 6 Pro.

ROG Phone 6D and ROG Phone 6D Ultimate are powered by the Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset. For those of you who don’t know, ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro come with Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset support. Yes! It is the latest flagship chipset released by Qualcomm.

Moreover, ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate come with LPDDR5x RAM instead of LPDDR5 RAM, but the internal storage remains the same, as it adopts UFS 3.1 technology. Both are supported by 12 GB and 16 GB of RAM. For comparison, 6 and 6 Pro reach 16 GB and 18 GB respectively.

The latest models offer Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. Finally, the 6D Ultimate has a hatch in the back, which can be opened and used with the AeroActive Cooler accessory (included in the box) to lower the temperature. AeroActive Portal is the official name for this new cooling system.

Except for the differences mentioned above, the ROG Phone 6D series shares the rest of the features with the ROG Phone 6 series. As such, the smartphone has a 6.78-inch FullHD+ AMOLED display, a refresh rate of 165Hz, a fingerprint sensor, and is protected from Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

For the photography/video sector, ASUS offers this smartphone with three cameras on the back, consisting of a 50MP main camera with Sony IMX766 sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP macro lens. On the front there is a 12MP camera for selfies and video calls.

Connectivity options include dual SIM, 5G, WiFi 6E, GNSS, and NFC. The smartphone also features an IPX4 rating, two USB Type-C ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual stereo speakers, three microphones, and a ROG Vision display on the back.

They both run on Android 12 and offer ROG UI in addition to Zen UI. ASUS promises two Android updates and two years of security updates. Last but not least, the device is powered by a 6000mAh battery with 65W fast charging via cable.

ROG Phone 6D series comes in one color choice, Space Gray. In the UK, it’s priced at £799 (Rs 13.7 million) for the ROG Phone 6D and £1,199 (Rs 20.5 million) for the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate. Unfortunately, ASUS has not announced pricing for other countries.

ASUS itself will just launch the ASUS ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro in Indonesia on September 21. Of course, the presence of the two smartphone models is ASUS’ response to meet the increasing demand of its fans in Indonesia.
